The Black-capped Pygmy-tyrant (Myiornis atricapillus) is a small, very short-tailed bird found in Costa Rica and W Ecuador.

Blackish cap; white spectacles; pileum black (duller in female); olive Green in the upperparts; nape and sides of head dark slate; dusky tail and wings with olive-green endings; chin, throat and center of breast white; pale yellow on belly, sides of neck and breast pale gray. Immature: upperparts more brownish, underparts and edges of wings buff.
