Crested Bobwhite

The Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus) ranges from Costa Rica to west Colombia and east Brazil. Its place is in rice and sugarcane fields, and in second growth and scrubby pastures. Matures are 20 cm (8 inches) in height and 125 g in weight.

The male’s breast is spotted with white. Posterior underparts are spotted and barred with black and cinnamon-rufous. Female’s throat is streaked with black, and they are buffy rather than rufous on head. They eat insects.
